As winter fades and St. Patrick's Day decor comes out I feel a sense of loss from the past year of our lives. A loss of intangible things we will not and cannot get back. There is a almost a sense of foreboding for what the future may bring. I have asked the Lord to fill me to overflowing with His Holy Spirit, Grace, Mercy and Love. I have asked Him to give me peace that only He can, and to restore the joy I seemed to have lost along the road of heartache that this past year has brought us. I have asked Him to once again use this broken vessel, whatever may come.
If you are in a season of grief, or feel loss (as I am struggling with) I encourage you to pray and ask God for the things you need, to bind up your brokenheart, as only He can. Spring brings with it a renewal of hope, that life will come again. I am reminded when things begin to grown and bloom that one day Jesus will return and make all things right and new again.
The green of St. Patty's Day decor reminds me that Spring is coming soon and the sun will shine again soon. Take heart, He has overcome the world. Come Lord Jesus come!
My faux naked cake was easy but messy to make. I am planning on another faux cake soon, think pink! This lovely intricate pewter base that my cake pedestal is on was a 1930 Syracuse Ornamental Company Syroco Collection Clock I found for $4.00 at a yardsale. It was missing it's clock and I envisioned it as a lovely cake stand base....and so it is. It is one of their earlier pieces. This company patented a pour wood pulp into molds way to create a hand carved look with less time and money. They later went into plastics and phased out the wood pulp designs. How lucky I was to find this beauty. I have collected many of their wood pulp clocks over the past few years and even gifted my Mother and sister each one. One day this lovely base may go missing after a visit from my sister...or so she tells me.
This lovely green English transferware patter is one of my favs. It is the Royal Staffordshire Windsor pattern. It is floral with pheasant and fleur de lis motif. Be still my heart! I have the pink and white, as well as the blue and white colours of this pattern. I collect transferware. I have Spode & Queens Myott in Turkey dishes as well. I am running out of room.
I also collect vintage Indiana Glass Company diamond Princess Tiara collection glass. I save the green goblets for our St. Patty's Day table. In truth we are not big corned beef lovers, lol. I did grow up eating a traditional Irish dinner of corned beef, potatoes, boiled cabbage and carrots on St. Patty's Day. The Flatware is Hampton Forge San Rameo flatware, I have it in white, red & grey. I found it on Amazon for relatively inexpensive. I love the pewter on the handles. I am on the hunt for a dark green for St. Patty's Day table. The monogrammed napkins are from white tulip embroidery. They are my favorite place to purchase embroidered napkins from. They are a similiar to a French or Irish linen . Very high quality and so many designs to choose from, you cannot go wrong. The velvet ruffled place mats are from Crown Linen Designs, a new favorite.
This lovely 1940's ice bucket with milk glass interior was found at a thrift store for all of $7.00. It was silver plated and values at $360.00! Of course I don't have a man servant to polish my silver, and if you have ever polished silver you know how difficult it is. So, that being said, I refinished it in my usual matte pewter wax paint. I am not planning on selling it, I use it every holiday for Sparkling juice. So I don't care if I devalued it. I love it in pewter.
I found these mint green bible verse cards on Amazon. Found these 1930's paper leprechauns on etsy from Tinsel Trading Company. They are darling.
These are my Mom's Irish fairies that she used to put out every year, holding there gold coins and the big pot of gold. I love to add a bit of nostalgia to my tablescapes.
As you can see a little more nostalgia here with my Grandma's vintage porcelain leprechauns.
Well off to bed with me now to dream of rainbows with pots of gold at the end of them :) hope you all have a lovely St. Patty's Day and don't forget to wear your green or you may get pinched!
