As Spring ends and summer arrives I am late posting my Spring home tour.
We are in a season of letting go and letting God take control of the devastating lost relationships in our lives. If you stand for Christ, and speak the truth, you will likely be hated for it as He was. God is still there and still in control. Ever present in our trials and hurts, He is the one to draw strength from. Let go and give them and it all over to the one Who has the power to heal and change hearts. He is fully and far more capable than we are, and letting go is so beautiful.
This Easter season was very beautiful, despite our difficulties how can it not be? It was peaceful and lovely. We are reminded just how very loved we are, that Jesus would lay down his life for sinners like us. Spring has become my favorite season. I love how God breathes warmth and new life into dead things, and creates beauty from a season of death and coldness. It is such a visual and beautiful reminder of Jesus and life, even after death can be beautiful once again. Revelation 21:5 says...And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Without further ado here is home this Spring. Welcome in friend...I am glad you stopped by!
Nothings says Spring more than fresh flowers! White roses are among my favs.
Trader Joe's has the most lovely affordable selection of fresh flowers.
Best place for affordable cushions AKA pillows, hands down Ross!
My Mother is laws ashes. I had a beautiful urn inscribed for her and topped it with a crown. She was definitely a Princess, lol. She would have enjoyed me painting her urn. I could almost feel her presence and hear her snort laugh when I was painting her urn with her ashes in it. I talk to her often, though I know she cannot hear me, it brings me comfort. She was such a comedian. Always the life of the gathering. So many great memories I will treasure about her.
More Ranunculus ...I never tire of them!
My Mother's white lilacs bring me such joy. Special memories created every year of me going to her home while she cuts them for me because I am so afraid of spiders, lol. I especially love May, my birth month, and Mother's Day. I look for the things in the garden that specifically bloom around my birthday and lilacs are one of them.
And then it happens...peony season. Be still my heart! Raspberries and cheesecake for my birthday...yes please! I love sweet tea with Jasmine flowers. I would drink it all day if it were not for the fact that that amount of caffeine would render me dead of a heart attack! lol
And yes the fun decoupage projects...always on the hunt for something else to decoupage. My poor husband...I might need to attend decoupage anonymous.
Teddy remains unimpressed with my talent.
And did I mention my birthday??? Or birthmonth as I now celebrate it all month! This was my splurge this year. I refinished these Gracious Good Canisters in pewter. Shocking, I know.
I really do love sheep...now I can visit some real ones as my sister just moved back to Oregon and purchased 40 acres and has sheep now! Hair sheep...which apparently you never have to sheer the "hair" not wool, because they shed year round. BONUS!
And yes...my continued obsession with rabbits. Even at Christmas I use them in my decor. Wait don't even tell me Jesus did not have bunnies in the stable when he was born!
Spot of tea?
And yes I did ruin a perfectly good Mackenzie Childs tea kettle...But oh how I love it now! I used BBQ heat paint and so far so good. It has not bubbled or blistered. Do not paint the inside, unless you enjoy yummy paint chemical in your tea...NOT!
Proverbs 31...Epilogue A wife of Noble Character. One of my deepest aspirations and influences. Having bible verses around my home helps me to remember what God wants me to hold onto. This world is fleeting and not lasting. Hold tight to His Word and His promises, they will sustain you.
My Spring candle pour this year was my best ever! I call the scent Spring Elegance! Oak Moss, Rose, Lily of the Valley, Gardenia, Lilac and Hydrenga mix. So good! Clean burning and organic!
Antique Pink and White English Transferware plates wall, yes please!
My fav place to purchase monogrammed linen napkins is hands down White Tulip Embroidery. They never disappoint. So many colours and so many fonts...aren't they dreamy?
Oh and yes...my people love fleur de lis. It will likely die out with my sister and I, as our children less than love our decor and really less than love fleur de lis...sigh. I love the meaning behind the symbol. You can read about it here:
Different Meanings of The Fleur de Lis
Well and it was Mother's Day and my Birthday too so Chocolate Tuxedo Cake was in order. I experienced Chocolate Mousse for the first time and oh baby it was good! Not on the diet plan, but so worth every last bite. My Mother enjoyed it too.Again, yes...rabbits. I am unashamed ;) until that is, my husband gives my that another rabbit, really? look?! Sigh.
And pink...glorious pink. Doesn't pink just invite you to smile, sit down and stay awhile?
Velvet is my fav fabric. So luxurious and soft. When we FINALLY did our bedroom makeover, after becoming empty nesters (the only time you can afford a bedroom makeover), we opted for velvet bedding. We never regretted that decision. It's like being hugged by Angels...especially when you use organic lavender dryer sachets. Vintage french decor would not be complete without lovely cherub statuary. Yes, of course I refinished it with rub-n-buff pewter paint!
