Valentines Home 2020

This year has brought about so many changes in our lives already. My Mother being diagnosed with breast cancer, and a week later my Mother-in-law with pancreatic cancer. Riley, our beloved Yorkie was just diagnosed with Diabetes. He will have to be on insulin shots twice a day for the rest of his life. It is all so overwhelming at times. I am on the mend from major surgery and will be battling my own health problems for the rest of my life as well. Well, when it rains it pours.

This year I did not feel very Valentinsey. We are so busy with our work that it leaves no time for romance, or even quality time together. As I type this, it is Valentines night, and we will be celebrating with our dinner & dessert tomorrow night because we are too tired to celebrate (and we had to eat up our leftovers from last night). Waste not want not, right?! Tomorrow I will be preparing him a tri-tip beef roast, organic short grain brown rice, beef gravy, organic cucumber salad & an organic apple crisp.

Decorating this year was a stress reliever for me, to say the least. I praise God because my own surgery results where non-cancerous, and my Mother's breast cancer treatment was a success! We are still in God's waiting room for the results of my Mother-in-law's journey through pancreatic cancer. It is so difficult to hear of her struggles from 4000 miles away. I wish they could move back so we could take care of the in their old age, but that does not seem to be a reality yet.

I am reminded daily that I am not in charge, God is on the throne and I am in His hands. I have to be mindful of handing Him the reigns, because I tend to try to do it on my own; strong willed child that I am. When I am in the storms of this life, I purpose to remember all that is beautiful in Jesus, who gave his life for us. How much more love could a person give than to lay His innocent life down for us. I am mindful of that and have a grateful heart for all of God's gracious blessings, even in rainy trials and suffering of this life.

Without further ado, happy Valentines my friends...I hope this day finds you well....
