| Slumguli Chowder-Piping hot and ready to eat! |
Ingredients:
- 8 extra large organic potatoes; peeled.
- 1 Lg Costco can minced clams in clam juice; do not drain
- 1 large can or 1 lb of crab (found at Costco or at Seafood Market)
- 1 lbs precooked lobster (Optional)
- 1 lb precooked baby sea scallops
- 2 lbs precooked baby wild caught Shrimp
- 3 boxes of organic MSG free organic chicken broth (to boil potatoes in)
- 2 sticks of organic butter
- 1-2 cup of organic flour
- 2 TBS organic onion powder
- 1 TBS organic garlic salt
- 2 tsp ground celery
- 1 tsp ground thyme
- 1/2 tsp ground sage
- ½ gallon of organic whole milk
- 1 pint of organic heavy cream (optional)
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 organic packet of organic real powder mashed potatoes from Costco (to thicken more)or mash some of the potatoes and use in the soup
Directions:
- Peel, cut up & add potatoes to a large stock pot with chicken broth; boil until soft; set aside.
- In a separate large pan, melt butter & add flour, onion powder, garlic salt & all other spices; form a paste (a Rue) and heat over medium heat until bubbling. Slowly add milk & cream while stirring rapidly with a wire whisk to get the lumps out (only add more milk after all the lumps are out and it thickens). Now you have your white sauce. Good job!
- Take some of the broth and use it with the packet of powdered REAL potatoes to reconstitue.
- Add Mashed potatoes to the white sauce, this will thicken sauce & add more flavor.
- Now add to white sauce bay leaves, clams their juice, shrimp, crab & it’s juice, lobster, & scallops. Stir & let re-thicken for approx 5 minutes. Add white sauce mixture to your large stock pot with potatoes in it that you set aside earlier. Stir well.
- Turn down to low & stir frequently (so as not to scald the bottom of the pan) and heat for 35-40 minutes; serve.
