Don't waste precious time in your life trying to be someone else's idea of who you should be. Be who it is God says you are; a daughter or a son of the Most High King, who loves you and even knows the numbers of hair on your head! He loves you so much He sent His Son to die a horrible death on the cross, to pay a price for your sin so that you could be with Him eternally. You are His creation and He delights in you! You are His beloved child and when you hurt he suffers with you, and when you are happy He shares in that happiness.
The only person we as believers in Christ should be seeking to be like is Christ. We are to be growing more like Him by reading the bible, praying, practicing repentance when necessary, fellowship with other believers, helping others, & worshiping our King. He will sanctify/purify/change us where we need parts of us changed, and grow us where we need to be grown when we submit to His will for our lives.
Seek God's approval, not mans. God's word does not say anywhere that we should covet what someone else has; be it looks, singing voice, creative talents, body shape, beauty, hair, personality (fill in the blanks here with what you have struggled with). On the contrary we are to have a grateful heart for what God has created in us. He has gifted each of us with talents and equipped us each with personality traits to be used for His glory and His Kingdom.
Always be authentic...this world is a place where there are a lot of hurting and struggling people. What they really want to see is authenticity. They see perfect (inauthentic) people everyday on TV and splashed across magazines. Remember you are the only you, there is only one of each of us on this entire planet. God has good plans for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. He can use what you have been through...the good, the bad, AND the ugly if you allow Him to. Practice being grateful, thanking Him for the the blessings, talents, personality, gifts and traits He has given you. Set your mind to being more Christlike everyday.
Forgive others who hurt, use, abuse or misjudge you. Inevitably people will hurt and disappoint one another whether accidentally or purposefully. There are certain types of people who are so insecure that they cannot accept authentic people, or that allow their insecurity to rule their lives and their relationships. They have to judge, hurt or belittle people to feel better about themselves...we all have experienced that type of person, some of us more than once! They may have had damage from childhood or from an abusive or toxic relationship, or just not taught their value as a child and it manifests itself in the way they interact with others today. Pray for that person to find acceptance, healing, forgiveness and love in Christ. Pray for them to understand their worth, even though it may seem as if they have a huge ego and seem to think they are better than others...they truly don't feel their worth in Christ if they act in this way. If they do not know Christ you are the picture of Jesus they see...pray for their salvation and repentance.
Truly letting go of things that are done to us small and large are never easy and sometime it is necessary to re-forgive because feelings of hurt or anger rise in us again. I know this to be true, forgiveness is more for us than for those who have trespassed against us. It sets us free of the clutter of reliving it in our minds and releases God's power to work in the persons life who hurt us. When you hold unforgiveness in your heart even your physical health can be attacked. Left there is will take root and bitterness spreads like a cancer through your soul, choking out any Spiritual growth. I know the healing power that forgiveness has, I have seen it work in my life.
Sometimes God places difficult people in our lives for our benefit. I think in my life "difficult personality types" have been used by God to sand off my rough edges, bring some things to the surface that God needed to change in me, and taught me what agape love was really about.
